- Special grades for overmoulding & coextrusion onto PE
- Applications: medical products, mouthguards & clear straps
Elastocon TPE Technologies, Inc. has expanded its range of TPEs (thermoplastic elastomers) to now include five new grades for overmoulding and coextruding onto polyethylene. The new grades are available in Shore A hardness ranges of 25, 40, 50 and 65. Potential applications include mouthguards, clear straps, medical products and pet toys, among others. Additional applications: overmoulding for cap liners and grips for various polyethylene consumer packaging.
The materials are UV stable, exhibit very good cold weather and high impact resistance, and are resistant to chlorine and most household cleaning products, among other chemicals and oils. They provide a soft, rubber-like feel and can be injection moulded, extruded, blow moulded or compounded. Natural grades are FDA compliant. Previous grades, which are still available, are suitable for overmoulding onto polypropylene and are available in Shore A hardness ranges from 10 to 90.
