When it comes to waterproofing membranes, there is a market trend towards synthetic rather than bituminous materials. AMUT, the Italian manufacturer of extrusion lines for waterproofing membranes, has introduced a technology that allows the production of multi-layer membranes in one single step. No off-line lamination is required anymore.
Production of multi-layer reinforced membranes in one-step
Flexible production is ensured as the line is capable of processing different thermoplastic materials, such as F/PVC, TPO, TPE. The production of multi-layer reinforced membranes in one-step is also possible by means of reinforcing elements laminated among the layers to enhance the mechanical resistance of the finished product. The system also supports base (fleece-back) lamination, which is usually carried out on the lower side of the membrane.
2,200 mm wide three-layer line to Turkish customer
The company has recently supplied a HYBRYD TYPE three-layer line capable of producing 2,200 mm wide membranes (thickness range from 1 to 3 mm) made of F/PVC or TPO to a large Turkish customer. The special design of the extruder screw is suitable for both materials, i.e. no screw change is required anymore. An inner reinforcing scrim and a bottom protective/supportive fleece (fleece-back) is included within the membrane’s structure. The total output is 1,800 kg/h for F/PVC and 1,250 kg/h for TPO, providing an annual membrane production of more than 4 Million m².

A double-inlet calender enables the production of a “sandwich” geometry in a single step: the external layers, with inserting/laminating of reinforcement in polyester or in glass fibre, and coating of fleece-back. The line is also equipped with a thickness gauge measuring device and a high accuracy winder unit to produce either jumbo or custom rolls.
