- More than 100 melt flow control units sold
- System enables production at lowest profile weight limit
- Significant material savings during profile production
The Austrian company Greiner Extrusion GmbH announced that it has sold more than 100 melt flow control units ‘flow.control pro’ worldwide. The system is used to accelerate or decelerate the melt flow of individual profile sections using cold and hot air. Material savings and cost reduction during profile extrusion are the main reasons to invest in this technology, according to the company.
System enables production at lowest profile weight limit
Material savings can be achieved due to production at the lowest profile weight limit. The system features an inline compensation for material variations and an accurate correction within seconds. It also provides graphical support with a profile geometry status display. Settings are reproducible using saved tooling numbers. An integrated start-up mode enables faster start-up of the profile and reduces start-up scrap to a minimum.
The system can be retrofitted and used in connection with the majority of die systems available in the market.
Significant material savings during profile production
An example given by the company shows that cost savings of approx. EUR 33,500 are possible if, for example, the wall thickness of the main wall (2.5mm) is reduced by 0.05mm which in turn means 1.5% material savings.
