Lüttgens Kunststoff-Technik was showcasing its expertise in the area of overmoulding of metal components with technical polymers. Such lightweight hybrid solutions with a high degree of function integration and stiffness are of special focus for the company. One recent project was an automotive rear gate closing unit with a length of 70mm and a weight of 13g manufactured by overmoulding a precision-stamped metal component with a glass fibre reinforced polyamide.
In partnership with its customers, Lüttgens develops concepts, provides support from component analysis, material selection, design and prototype production right up to testing and quality control. Beyond the provision of exterior door handles, chassis components or gear levers, the company has evolved into a major provider of plastic overmoulded lock components in Europe.
