If every one of those cars would used modern nonwoven materials, 800,000 tonnes of CO2 could be saved, according to EDANA, the international association serving the nonwovens and related industries. Today more than 40 automotive parts are made with nonwoven fabrics, from trunk liners and carpets to air and fuel filters. Nonwovens are between 15-30% lighter than the traditional materials they replace, making each car more than 2 kg lighter.
