With its wide range of hydraulic laboratory platen presses, the company Fontijne Presses serves customers from the plastics, rubber and composite industry. Besides its LabEcon series, with platen presses built for basic pressing operations, the company also offers custom made solutions by the name LabPro Series.

Customized high pressure platen press for composites

Recently the company delivered a LabPro 1000 press to an undisclosed customer who is providing engineering thermoplastic material solutions worldwide. This unique platen press is equipped with a 50 mbar vacuum chamber, a press force of 1000 kN (working pressure 4 N/mm), a maximum temperature of 450°C, automatic air/water-cooling incl. frame cooling and the improved ProView control system. This Fontijne Grotnes Lab Pro View control system is a PC control system under Windows, integrated in 15” touch panel, with program builder on time-, or event-base.

Floating upper platens for accurate low pressure

When low pressure is needed, the presses can be equipped with a floating upper platen controlled by a pneumatic system, which leads to a very accurate pressure (pressure may range from 0 – 10 kN). This weight compensation system enables the press to heat up samples or moulds without or with very low pressure. The closure time depends on the polymerization time and the resin in use. The controllable speed system ensures that initially, the approaching speed is high, then movements slow down for the last centimeters (mating speed). This slow speed is essential to ensure a good quality (dispersion of the reinforcement, elimination of air inclusions) of the produced part.

Fontijne Presses will showcase its latest press developments at #jeceurope2015
