- Polyurethane-glass composite for good thermal properties
Inoutic, a member of the Deceuninck Group NV, was recently honored for a prototype of a balcony door with a profile depth of just 59 mm. This profile was pultruded by another member of the Deceuninck Group, Deceuninck North America, using the company’s Rovex technology and a specially formulated grade of Baydur PUL polyurethane from Bayer MaterialScience LLC.
Rovex products are non-corrosive, non-conductive, and offer good structural, thermal and environmental performance. Notably, the very good thermal properties that can be achieved by using a polyurethane-glass composite can translate into energy savings for customers. This is particularly important as thermal performance requirements continue to increase, such as the Energy Star Version 6.0 Residential Windows, Doors, and Skylights Specification, which will become effective in two phases, beginning Jan. 1, 2015.

The “Innovation Award for Architecture + Windows, Doors and Facades,” was presented to Inoutic by the European architecture journals AIT and xia intelligente architecktur. Judges praised the “mechanical performance and process advantages” of the profile and were impressed with the slim line and design freedom with regard to the colour and feel. The award was presented during Fensterbau 2014, a leading trade show In Europe for windows, doors and facades.
