Tape labyrinth products exist in the market since the late 70’s and mainly serve in applications that require short periods of irrigation, commonly vegetables or for single season crops. The main benefits of tape labyrinth, rather than injected dripper emitters, consist in substantially lowered production costs along with enhanced functionality in the field, in particular due to the physical anti-syphon barrier achieved with slit outlets. This outlet shape protects the flow path/labyrinth from foreign debris during suction conditions.
Extrusion line for drip irrigation tape with speed up to 300 m/min
T.H.E. Machines, along with its subsidiary Protool-Switzerland, offers complete tape-labyrinth extrusion lines. With these machines it is possible to produce drip irrigation tape, with tandem extruded labyrinth process in the diameter range from 12 to 32 mm and wall thicknesses ranging from 0.15 (0.125) to 0.63 mm at speeds up to 300 m/min. The LIT106 lines enable the production of different products, including EcoTape, DurTape and 5 cm pitch tape.
These products can be used in several different applications such as SDI (sub-surface drip installation), sugar cane, corn, greenhouses and for the surface irrigation of vegetables and flowers with the possibility of reutilization.
Ecotape:
The new labyrinth with the related extrusion process enables the production of a tape labyrinth tubing that combines high quality product performances as well as cost effectiveness.

DurTape:
To overcome the wall thickness limitation, T.H.E. Machines and its subsidiary Protool Switzerland have developed a process allowing the production of medium wall thickness tapes on high speed lines. The new product consists of a combination of a medium wall thickness tube as well as a new labyrinth design. This combination enables the product to be used for several irrigation seasons, in both subsurface and surface applications. It also allows to work at higher pressure ranges from 0.4 to 2.5 bars, hence the ability to irrigate in varied topographies and to work with longer laterals. The elevated wall thickness of the tube, together with the slit outlet syphon protection makes the product very suitable for the SDI application.
