Processing Technologies International, LLC (PTi), a leading manufacturer of sheet extrusion machinery, has launched the G-Series Configurable roll stand which permits greater flexibility and significantly reduced downtime for system modifications. The new roll stand will be unveiled at NPE2015

Flexibility as a foucs

The G-Series configurable model GCH661824 employs a new design concept which enables easy downstream configuration changes for inline thermoforming and roll stock applications. The roll stand simplifies future expansion and utilization of extrusion systems for sheet. Previous custom roll stands often require modifications taking weeks and sometimes months. Now, that process can take just hours as processors add another piece of equipment or make other modifications with minimal re-engineering and reduced downtime, according to the company.

Downstream modules can be added without any cutting or welding

Among the key advantages is a configurable frame which allows other downstream modules to be added without any cutting, welding, or machining. The length of the module can be adjusted, increasing or decreasing the distance between the main roll stack and the pull roll. This feature permits incorporation of new components including, but not limited to, additional cooling, surface treatment, slitting, and gauging stations. This also enables manufacturers to change the order of downstream operations within a system as well as the potential of sharing modules between other compatible G-Series Configurable systems.

Integral energy chain allows utilities to be easily repositioned

The roll stand also allows for easy integration of utilities such as electrical, water, and compressed air. An integral energy chain allows utilities to be easily repositioned due to the system’s configurable elements. Other standard patented G-Series features on the GCH661824 roll stand include linear bearing system positioning, ratcheting vertical nip height adjustment, mechanical roll lock-out, and transfer roll coating for top and/or bottom side application.

The G-Series Configurable roll stand is available in vertical up/down, J-stack, or horizontal configurations.
