- Bonnet & roof with shark skin surface for optimised aerodynamics & weight reduction
- Winner of the JEC Innovation Award
- EschmannStahl booth (Hall 8.0 / J122) at #euromold
The Street Shark 3.0 joint project, in which a modified BMW Z4 bonnet and roof module are fitted with a sharkskin surface, is presented at the EschmannStahl booth (Hall 8.0 / J122) at the #euromold 2014
The new Street Shark 3.0 version is a further development of the aerodynamic properties and weight optimisation of the hood. Recent findings from wind tunnel tests have also been incorporated with the effect that the flow resistance was further reduced and the aerodynamics optimised. In addition to its tuning functionality, this technology offers a variety of application possibilities, for example, in the wind energy, sports and leisure industries, railway and aviation sectors as well as in boat building. Moreover, besides the sharkskin, other bionic surface structures are also conceivable, such as stain-resistant or self-healing surfaces, or other kinds of patterns such as a wooden look.
The development of the Street Shark 3.0 is a joint project of Eschmann-Textures (surface design), the Frimo Group, Huntsman, ISL (Berlac Group), Rühl, C4C and DStyle, who is responsible for the new design.
In May of this year the project received the prestigious JEC Innovation Award in the Automotive Category.
