Roller bearings produced by Link Upon Advanced Material Corp., Taipei, Taiwan, are made of KetaSpire polyetheretherketone (PEEK) resin from Solvay Specialty Polymers for strong chemical resistance, high heat deflection temperature, low creep, and exceptional dimensional stability. Link Upon’s roller bearing is used in a range of processing machinery for the food, medical, chemical, and industrial markets.
The PEEK roller bearing is used in conjunction with ceramic balls to drive an automatic shaft. As the roller bearing rotates, it causes the ceramic balls to rotate as well with very little stiffness and minimal friction. Low coefficient of linear thermal expansion (CLTE) helps to ensure strong dimensional stability and tight tolerances. PEEK roller bearings are also more durable than those made of competing materials like stainless steel. The roller bearing can be employed in high-heat environments up to 240°C (464°F) relative thermal index (RTI). In addition, the material’s corrosion resistance allows for smooth rotation in moderate acid-alkali environments. The PEEK roller bearings come in a range of sizes from 26 mm/1.0 in. (inner diam. 10 mm/0.39 in.) by 8 mm/0.31 in. to 72 mm/2.83 in. (inner diam. 35 mm/1.38 in.) by 17 mm/0.67 in.
