With more than 250 high-speed extruders now been installed worldwide, Battenfeld-cincinnati can be considered as a pioneer in this special technology. Very high output combined with low energy consumption are the main features of this extruder concept used for thermoforming sheets, industrial sheets and edge bands. The company is now extending its extruder range by adding an adiabatic extruder which even uses about 10% less specific energy.
Adiabatic extruder for sheet extrusion uses 10% less specific energy
The extruder can be used to process PP, PS, APET, CPET, PLA, PE and also PC. Depending on the material, the 34D-long single screw extruder with a screw diameter of 75 mm, operating at screw speeds of up to 1,500 rpm, reaches outputs of up to 1,800 kg/h.
Based on field experience and findings from laboratory tests, the company has now developed an adiabatic high-speed extruder with very high energy efficiency. This new process technology allows to reduce energy consumption by another 10% compared to previous high-speed models, which already use 25% less energy than conventional extruders. After this high-speed model was presented at the K 2013 for the first time, the pilot machine has now been in production for several months.
Lower noise level & reduced hear emissions
In addition to its low energy consumption, the extruder featues an extremely low noise level in operation and a 10 % higher specific feed rate. The machine‘s heat emission to its environment has also been reduced considerably. This improves production conditions, especially during the summer months.
