  • Award as a “small automotive world championship” for top suppliers
  • HBPO was founded as JV between Hella, Behr & Plastic Omnium in 2004

For the second time, the company HBPO has received the prestigious Volkswagen Group Award. HBPO is specialized in the design, development and assembly of complex frontend modules. With this award, the OEM honors its top suppliers. During a gala on June 19 at the Porsche plant in Leipzig, Germany, VW gave the award to 18 suppliers from around the world.

“Our Volkswagen Group Award can be seen as a small automotive world championship. The companies who are present here belong to the best in the world. Together with our suppliers, VW works on developing leading technologies and innovations while upholding a constant level of quality,” said Prof. Martin Winterkorn, chairman of the Volkswagen AG Board of Management. HBPO received the Volkswagen Group Award in 2008 for the first time. Since its establishment in 2003, the Volkswagen Group Award has recognized premium suppliers on an annual basis.

HBPO was founded at the beginning of 2004 as a joint venture between the three automotive parts suppliers Hella, Behr and Plastic Omnium and emerged from the company Hella-Behr Fahrzeugsysteme GmbH set up in 1999. The company’s turnover in 2013 totalled 1.4 billion €. HBPO has 1,600 employees world-wide who are currently producing about 4.5 million frontends per year in 23 JIS (just-in-sequence) manufacturing facilities in Europe, North America and Asia.
