Continental Structural Plastics (CSP) announced that its 50:50 Chinese joint venture, CSP Victall, has agreed to purchase from Dieffenbacher a fully automated LFT-D line for its facility in Tangshan, China. This line is the first in the world to be equipped to support the application of carbon fiber and higher temperature resins in addition to mainstream glass and polypropylene materials, according to the company.

The scope of equipment being supplied by Dieffenbacher includes a 4,300-ton Compress Plus press and a subsequent punch press for LFT-D in-line compounding, convection ovens and complete automation. The line features a 30-second cycle time, and with double belt-loading, has an output of approximately one million components per year.
Composite components for the automotive market
Formed in October 2014, CSP Victall is a 50:50 joint venture between Qingdao Victall Railway (Group) Co., Ltd., and Continental Structural Plastics. The company, CSP Victall (Tangshan) Structural Composites Co., Ltd., will operate out of a 322,000 square-foot manufacturing facility located in Tangshan. The company will manufacture composite components for the automotive, heavy truck and bus, construction and agriculture markets in China. The joint venture will also compound and sell sheet molded compound (SMC) raw materials out of this facility. Production operations are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2015.
